Both. Sunrise is being built with 3-years worth of experience using Rails, so each line of code contains more bang for the buck. But the application itself is also significantly simpler than Basecamp in many, many ways.

We're actually trying to get away from the CRM moniker, though. People have a lot of expectations and associations that doesn't do Sunrise justice. For instance, our product is not merely for the sales force. There's no pipelining or quarterly forecast or any of that stuff.

Would you say the relatively small size of Sunrise is more because you've simplified your coding or more because you've simplified the application, relative to Basecamp?

I'm definitely looking forward to it, I've seen too many companies go through too much pain trying to get a CRM running.

Thanks for the update!

I understand your eagerness for Sunrise. I'd definitely like to have it out too. But it's "delay" (always a funny term to apply to something that never had a release date in the first place) is not due to any kind of inherent complexities in the way we perceive CRM.

It's simply do to me specifically having a lot of other concerns to attend to than merely programming at this point (and I'm currently the only programmer on Sunrise).

Sunrise is currently a mere 1.5klocs of Rails code. That's about one tenth of Basecamp's size. So even if the code base doubles before launch, we're doing pretty good.
